I loved Emma’s Auditioning for the New Photostory Series post, so I decided to do something similar for my new (yes, yes, my brain is brilliant . . . three photostory series at once . . . ) photostory series!
Movie star and director Nora Selene was making a new movie, and the girls were all going to have parts.
They all filed into her studio Friday at noon.
“Hello,” Nora called, sitting cross-legged on a table.
“Hello, Miss Selene!” Saige said.
“We’ll start in five minutes, OK?” Nora said.
“I’m hoping for Sandra!” Saige told Isabelle.
“I might like to be Lauren or Holly, but I don’t know much about either one,” Izzy replied.
Ivy came up behind Saige. “I want Sara.”
“I bet you’re gonna be Mrs. C.,” Molly said, nudging Tracy in the ribs.
“Ugh, but she’s so old!” Tracy protested. “I bet you are going to be her.”
Nora clapped and the girls fell silent. “We’re starting the auditions now!”
The girls scampered to the stage as Nora started calling out instructions. “I’m going to move you around a lot, so you’ll all have a chance to be everyone.”
“Saige as Sandra.”
“Ivy as Holly.”
“Isabelle as Sara . . .”
Soon, they were in order for the first audition — Molly as Tim, Caroline as Maria, Tracy as Lauren, and Emily as Mrs. C.
And then the director rearranged them — Tracy as Tim, Ivy as Maria, Isabelle as Lauren, Emily as Sandra, Saige as Holly, Molly as Sara, and Caroline as Mrs. C.
After several different casts, Nora came to her decision. “OK, kids. I’m going to go write up the cast list. While you’re waiting, why not have a snack and drink?” Then she went back to her little table to write the cast list. But none of the girls had a snack or drink — they were all too eager/nervous.
And then, when Nora taped up the cast list, the girls dashed to it and held their breathe while they scanned the paper for their name.
