Secret Santa 2015

Yes, I’ve finally gotten around to making a Christmas post! Yay, me! 😀

See the Secret Santa post from 2014 HERE.

My sisters and I trooped across the street to Nevaeh’s room, where MJ and Savannah were helping her put up flowery decorations.

It made me slightly jealous to see them like that. I’d always thought that MJ Valdez was awesome — she was a celebrity, for goodness sake. But since Nevaeh Taylor had arrived, we’d been hanging out less and less. She’s been spending most of her time with Nevaeh . . .

I coughed to get their attention. “It’s time for Secret Santa!” I exclaimed.

They dropped the decorations and joined us in a circle.

“Since some people don’t know how to play,” I started with a meaningful glance at the Historical Characters, “I will explain the rules of Secret Santa before we get started. There are ten strips of paper in this box, each one with one of our names written on it.” I rattled the purple box. “The box will be passed around the circle, and each girl will draw a name. She cannot tell anyone whose name she drew.

I handed the box to Savannah.

She plunged her hand into the box, MJ and Nevaeh both reaching for it at the same time. They scrambled for a slip of paper. Finally, giggling, they each had a paper in their hand.

I glared at Nevaeh. I was fine with whatever name I happened to draw . . . as long I didn’t get Nevaeh’s name.

Savannah, Nevaeh, and MJ unfolded the pieces of paper, showing each other the names despite what I’d told them.

Savannah had Emily, Nevaeh had gotten Caroline, and MJ had drawn Saige — my name.

They balled up the papers, smiling at us cheekily. Then they passed the box to the next girl.

Molly held the box while Emily picked a slip. Then Emily took the box so that her best friend could draw a name.

While Molly slowly stirred up the papers, they whispered about whose name they hoped to get.

They opened the papers: Emily got Ivy, and Molly had drawn her own name.

“I got ‘Molly!'” she laughed. “Saige, what should I do?”

“Just put it back in,” I advised. “Then draw another name.”

She did what she was told, ending up with Savannah’s name.

The box of names passed quickly around the circle.

Caroline got Tracy.

Ivy drew Isabelle’s name.

Tracy was going to be MJ’s Secret Santa. She did a weird little happy dance when she saw which name she got, because MJ was her best friend.

Isabelle ended up with the name “Molly.”

I, of course, didn’t know which names had already been drawn.

Then the box was back in my hands. I stared down at the one fateful slip of paper remaining. I was hoping desperately that Nevaeh’s name wasn’t written on it.

My hand shaking ever so slightly, I reached for the last piece of paper.

Have you ever done Secret Santa?

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everybody! I’m soooooo excited right now! I haven’t even opened present and it is 8:20 cuz I just got up! So enjoy the photostory!!

*almost all of the pictures are edited to make it look darker, and some of the pictures at the beginning are blurry because the camera was in the wrong setting.*

I yawned and blinked my eyes sleepily as I woke up early morning December 25.

I sat up and stared blankly at the Christmas tree for a few seconds before I remembered what day it was.

Christmas! Hurray!

I gently kicked Izzy and when she opened one eye, I whispered, “Merry Christmas, Sleeping Beauty.”

The second my words sunk in, Izzy jumped up and stared dancing, humming The Nutcracker.

As she curtsied after her mini performance, I began clapping.

My applause woke up Tracy, and she mumbled as she sat up, “Why did you wake me up? I was having the most beautiful dream about a magical land where the snow tasted like sugar, and there was a fairy . . . The Sugar Phone Fairy. . . “

Izzy and I giggled as we realized what Tracy’s dream had been about.

“I believe it was The Sugar Plum Fairy, Tracy,” I hinted.

Then Isabelle and I skipped around the room, shaking our sisters until everyone was awake.

“Merry Christmas!” we sang.

Emily crawled out from under her blankets and made her way to the plate of cookies she had left for Santa. There was nothing left but a few crumbs. “Molly! Santa was here,” Emily exclaimed.

Tracy and I shared a mischievous smile. Santa and his elf had been busy last night.

Caroline raised her hands in the air and shouted, “Go!!” We all dashed to the Christmas tree to find our presents.

We sat down close to the girl we had gotten for Secret Santa and passed around the wrapped boxes until we each had a present with our name on it in our lap.

I looked over at Tracy as I picked up my present from Molly. I was her Secret Santa.

Then we all started ripping off bows and opening boxes!

In mine was a bag, a bracelet, and a shirt. “Thank you, Molly!” I said.

Molly got a wall hang-y thing and a notebook.

Caroline got a birdhouse and a picture frame.

Emily got a set of colonial paper dolls.

Ivy got a panda stuffed animal, a phone with an emerald doodle case, and two Percy Jackson books, The Lightning Theif , and The Sea of Monsters.

Isabelle got a sewing machine!

I stood behind Tracy as she lifted the lid. No way was I going to miss her reaction!

Inside were two Spiderman posters, a Spiderman necklace, and a phone case of a cute little owl with a mustache.

“Ta daa!” I said.

I grinned as I looked at one of the pictures. What could I say? 🙂

I went up to my bedroom and changed into my new shirt as my sisters oohed and aahed over their gifts.

I smiled when I came back downstairs and my family told me how great I looked in my outfit.

Then we went for the stockings!

Ivy pulled a candy-cane and a card with what her name meant out of her stocking. We each had the same thing — except some of us got Snickers or mints.

We spread out our name cards and laughed about what they said.

Emily Anne

Hardworking; God has favored me

Tracy Rene’

Bold, brave; to rise again

Isabelle Rose

Devoted to God; flower

Caroline Noelle

Song of happiness; birthday. Refers to Christ’s birth.

Molly Kristina

Wished-for child; Christian.

Ivy Jade

Faithfulness, ivy; jewel.

Saige Courtney

Wise. Associated with sagebrush, cowboys, and the Wild West. Court attendant.

“Who put the stuff in the stockings?” Molly asked.

We looked at each other and shrugged.

 “Was it Mom?” Isabelle suggested.

“Santa!” Emily cried.

“It wasn’t Mom,” Caroline said.

“How do you know?” Ivy asked.

Caroline smiled sheepishly as she said, “I kind of spied on her last night.”

I suddenly asked, “Who turned the Christmas tree lights on? I was the first up this morning, and it was already on when I woke up.”

“I’m telling you, it’s Santa!” Emily insisted, waving her hands wildly in the air. “And he even ate the extra cookie I set out for him after his elves ate the peanut-butter blossoms. It was chocolate!”

Tracy and I exchanged a surprised look. There had only been peanut-butter blossoms when we had chowed down . . .

Secret Santa

“Gather round, one and all! Secret Santa is about to begin!” Saige announced.

Caroline waved her hand in the air. “Um, Saige? What, exactly, is Secret Santa?”

“Yeah, Saige,” Molly added. “Can you explain the rules or something?”

Saige sighed and shook her head. “You Historical Characters . . . Well, we all draw a name, and then we go Christmas shopping for the girl. On Christmas day, we’ll each have a present from someone in the family. But you can’t tell anyone who you got until Christmas. Got it?”

Saige picked up a purple box with seven slips of paper inside.

She held it out to Caroline. “OK, sis. Pick a name.”

Caroline put her hand inside, stirred the names around, and pulled out . . .

Ivy’s name!

And so on around the room the little purple box went. Ivy got Emily’s name.

And Isabelle got Molly’s.

Tracy drew out Isabelle.

Emily got Caroline . . .

and Molly got Saige!

And that left Saige with Tracy’s name.

“Alright, people, let’s go shopping!”

Hi guys! Wow, it’s December already! :0 Christmas will be here soon. Yippee! Well, it looks like the girls are going to have fun with Secret Santa. It works with people, too, of course. 🙂 I’m doing it with my AHG troop! It was my brilliant idea, of course. *flips hair*

Tell me if you do Secret Santa with your dolls (or with your family and/or friends), or want to!
